Lance Martin has been conducting a war of his own making. Like Kurtz from Conrad’s Heart of Darkness or Coppola’s later presentation, Apocalypse Now, he appears to have been unable to grapple with his own demons, and has created a relentless and pointless war devoid of conscience or moral reasoning. In this case, Lance Martin has been unable to deal with the real reasons for the demise of his marriage and has sought to work through them in the most ineffectual way – By conducting a war on the person he mistakenly believes to have been the cause of his marriage breakdown.
Like Kurtz, he is seemingly unconcerned by the impact of his actions, Lance may not have a camp of dead bodies surrounding him, but those that follow him appear, like those in the Apocalypse Now, to have adopted his skewed and fictional account of reality. How many failed complaints will it take for Lance Martin and Esther Rockett to get a grip on reality?
As the news of the latest failed complaint by Lance Martin has come to light, it requires reflection upon how Lance Martin has been ‘relentless’ in his lies, impotent in his actions and apparently unable to move on in his life. It is not hard to imagine a repulsive image of Martin lounging in a jungle, like Brando playing Kurtz in the movie, dankly obsessing about his self-aggrandising plans to ‘bring Universal Medicine down’.
As recently as 9 May 2014 using the pseudonym ‘You Know Who’ on one of Esther Rockett’s blogs, Lance Martin writes:
‘But let me tell you about the ones you need to worry about if you already can’t get a measure of my character. I AM RELENTLESS. Just like Venus, because I have seen so much despair and grief because of the little worm you worship that I will not rest until he is stopped- by the authorities. I know what he’s done, and I know what he is doing, and while it is not quite a fait accompli- worse luck- it will happen. That’s a promise.’
As we have discussed in our previous posts, Lance Martin’s impotent pursuit of vengeance through a war waged by making serial complaints to government authorities are simply ill-fated attempts to find resolution for his hurt and rage, obviously triggered by the breakdown of his marriage. He has consistently made the same complaints rebadged each time and consistently these have been rejected by the authority concerned.
It appears to have escaped Lance Martin’s attention, but revenge exacted through a government complaints process is not going to provide the psychological support he so obviously needs. He is perhaps desperate for a complaint to be successful, since it might give him justification for his own deluded views about Serge Benhayon, and justify his misguided view that his marriage ended because of Serge Benhayon. His own wife is clear – the marriage ended because it was characterised by abuse and control on Martin’s part.
Lance Martin has sought relief for his misery in multiple complaints to public authorities; at first complaining about Serge Benhayon wherever he could including to the ATO, ASIC, ACCC ASQA and lately the HCCC. All complaints have been dismissed, some without investigation. He and Esther Rockett have amassed 20 or more complaints between them, each dismissed, each exposing the lies that the pair have disseminated on their blog posts and in other instances more directly, to be completely without foundation.
As each organisation was apprised of his fabrications, either because they were seen through immediately, or when the organisation was compelled by the requirements of due process to proceed with an investigation, Serge Benhayon met all with perfect candour, transparency and openness – each complaint was addressed meticulously and clearly exposed to be baseless.
Lance Martin’s bitter jealousy and rage-fuelled war sought whatever means he could to cause trouble and his latest raft of complaints sought to discredit not only Serge Benhayon, but also the independently run educational charity, the College of Universal Medicine.
The College of Universal Medicine was created with the charitable objective of ‘promoting true health and well-being based on the teachings of the Ageless Wisdom’ and has founded a metaphysical school through which workshops, lectures and courses will be presented that promote health and wellbeing for the whole community at an affordable rate. It holds as a central premise health and wellbeing for everyone.
In pursuing his objective of destroying Serge Benhayon and any person or organisation that is connected to him, Lance Martin made up lies, with not even a morsel of factual evidence to support his wild claims. He suggested that Serge Benhayon had set up the charity for his own personal gain and was rorting the charities system for financial gain for himself personally and his business. Lance Martin also sought to jeopardise the charitable status of the newly formed College by asserting that it was not reaching its charitable objectives, or perhaps even more maliciously asserting that it had none.
Lance Martin’s war had been failing for some time, as each regulatory agency saw through his complaints, and those of his accomplice Esther Rockett. He managed to enlist the services of Jane Hansen who seemed eager to adopt the lies he had concocted about the College and make the false allegations he had fabricated into a story, reporting the nonsense about the alleged charity rorts as ‘news’. Jane Hansen published Lance Martin’s comments about Serge Benhayon and the College of Universal Medicine without alluding to the two year hate campaign he had conducted, lamely referring to Lance Martin blaming the demise of his marriage on Universal Medicine. She did not question if what she was being told might not be true.
Jane Hansen’s media articles with the Sunday Telegraph are subject to complaints made to the Australian Press Council on the basis that they were a complete departure from journalism standards of ‘fairness and balance’ in reporting. The Sunday Telegraph has stood by its presentation, even though there was nothing that Jane Hansen could produce to support her reporting of Lance Martin’s lies as facts worthy of column space.
Serge Benhayon had alerted Jane Hansen to the character of the complainant and that Lance Martin’s pursuit of ‘revenge’ was intensifying as each baseless complaint was met with dismissal by the government agencies concerned.
Serge Benhayon also warned her of the complete lack of substance to any concerns raised about the College and his relationship with it and had made sure that Jane Hansen was left with no doubt as to his position with regard to the lies and the characters she was relying upon for her sources. He had written to her at length, but here you can see that he made explicit that:
‘Again – you have been informed of allegations that will go nowhere. Yes, they look good for a journalist, dressed as if there is something wrong. But, like all before, it will be nothing more than trumped up allegations. A complaint to an authority does not make the complaint true Ms Hansen… I see that for some the sensation and the thrill is greater than truth and common decency. Is it a wonder why the public do not trust the media? No, it is not because they are not as stupid as they are held to be…
Consider this Ms Hansen, unlike many, I have the resources to sue Mr Martin and Ms Rockett for defamation. But why haven’t I? It is an easy victory given that they have no proof because there are no facts to their allegations. And with no assets or funds to pay for their crimes. When you have nothing to lose one can be as recklessly unaccountable as they please. Concocted lies do not convert to truths. Thus, what better way than to welcome with full transparency any complaint or investigation. Two years of vile accusations with no results. I ask you to consider if there is more at play here than you have been led to believe.’
Serge Benhayon also predicted that the complaints upon which Jane Hansen was placing all her bets would be found to be false. As he clearly told her
“…I will give you a small glimpse of what will be found — with regard to the Charity and it being on my land and my building: there is no untoward personal gain whatsoever for me. In fact, there is personal loss for the sake of true Charity. Unusual yes. But then again so is much of what we have set new standards for over the last 15 years.”
Serge Benhayon left her with an invitation to consider that a true story might be being overlooked about true Charity, since the College of Universal Medicine, has “real philanthropy is its core design and as such will be its delivery.” He also asked Jane Hansen to consider:
‘Ms Hansen, there is a great story here if the truth is told. Perhaps, it is too good to be told. I understand if the newspapers do not consider great Australian stories readership quality. But then again, it may be worth it.’
Jane Hansen chose to publish the Sunday Telegraph articles with full knowledge of who her sources were, she knew of their background as vicious, malicious cyber-bullies who had been intent on distributing their own invective. Yet, irrespective of this knowledge in reporting the complaint against the College of Universal Medicine, Jane Hansen chose to rely upon the complainant, Lance Martin. She did not report about the 20 or more malicious baseless and failed complaints and she ignored Lance Martin’s disturbing history with his consistently stated aim to destroy Universal Medicine by whatever means he could. She chose to ignore the possibility that the College was a properly run charity, choosing instead the lies of Lance Martin, with what we can readily assume had no evidence or any substance to support them.
The College wrote to the Sunday Telegraph, before it proceeded with publication of Jane Hansen’s article, warning that in the case of a publication relying upon Lance Martin’s lies ‘it is difficult to envisage a clearer breach of journalistic standards of fairness and integrity’. Yet Hansen and the paper chose to publish an article that favoured lies and fiction above fact and evidence.
Like Kurtz, Martin’s impotence to deal with his own life issues also has played out in his imagined war against Serge Benhayon with this latest complaint to the Office of Liquor and Gaming (OLGR) being dismissed. The Office found that the complaint –
‘Did not disclose any evidence to suggest the CoUM had breached the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991 or conditions attached to its charitable fundraising authority.’
An earlier complaint, also against the College of Universal Medicine lodged with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission met with the same fate.
Esther Rockett has complained that Universal Medicine ‘accuse journalists and publications of publishing ‘lies’ but never specify what they are.’ Well a lie about lies, that really takes the gluten free cake Esther. Lance Martin has also jumped in on this one, posing as the Lord of Form:
I was pretty sure I have identified a whole lot of lies from you and Esther and am sure you have been studying my blogs and they have been pretty specific about your lies. Yes ‘dared to name‘ them Lance, (wow, what an ‘evil wench’ I am – just quoting ‘medieval Lance’ here, in case the reader wonders about this odd reference).
But just in case you missed the other ones, here we can give you some very specific examples. It is time for Lance Martin to eat his own words; his lies are now exposed since they were stated in the national media, as he was quoted in the Sunday Telegraph:
‘The College of Universal Medicine charitable activities are directed to benefiting the UM commercial business and propagating Serge Benhayon’s teachings and practices, and do not benefit the public.’
NO LANCE, THIS IS A LIE AND THE COMPLAINT IS DISMISSED
AND ANOTHER IMPOTENT ACCUSATION:
NO LANCE, INCORRECT, YOU DID NOT LOOK, YOU MADE IT UP, IT IS A LIE AND IT RIGHTLY GOT DISMISSED
The lies are empty, as empty as a life dedicated to revenge and fury. How do you stop this war of empty words, Lance Martin? Can you arrest this madness? Or have you, like Kurtz, reached a point of no return?
So Lance Martin and Esther Rockett, with whatever pseudonym or title you give yourself for the hour, the college is not, as you have asserted ‘merely another of Serge Benhayon’s money for nothing scams’ – it is a legitimate educational charity, carrying out its charitable objectives and also working in accordance with the strictest level of legal and financial compliance. Your many blogs suggesting otherwise are false, and yes I ‘dare’ to call it, ‘lies’.
Lance Martin likes to think that he knows some things, suggesting that:
No Lance Martin, it is time to let go of that delusion, as yourself and Esther Rockett have no facts and no evidence to back up your preposterous claims. Perhaps the reality of this will dawn upon you when you both reflect on the 20 plus failed complaints where you have supplied zero compelling evidence to make out a single allegation.
Lance, I can’t help but notice that your self-evaluation is somewhat lacking – your statement that:
Well one of these ‘gormless fools’ would like to point out that accusing someone of rorting charities legislation is, well, an ‘accusation’. Your blog posts are full of them – I lost count on the first page. And if you have credible evidence, then WHY has every single one of yours and Esther’s multitude of complaints been DISMISSED?
Esther Rockett has some lies to digest as well. She has convinced herself that the dismissal of her countless complaints to the HCCC is because ‘they hadn’t read my complaints.’
No Esther, they would have read them and they would have made the accurate assessment that there was (and is) no legitimate complaint.
And it appears that this is par for the course for both Lance Martin’s and Esther Rockett’s complaints to government bodies.
In response to the Facts team and Universal Medicine providing legitimate responses to the lies she and Lance Martin have promulgated, Esther Rockett has dismissed the challenge to their lies as a ‘propaganda free fall’:
Well Esther Rockett, it is not propaganda to correct lies and it just so happens that the media was biased in even giving 5 minutes attention to Lance Martin’s concocted complaints without examining the man who made them.
The allegations made against the College of Universal Medicine are lies and have been shown to be so. Universal Medicine has answered the allegations made to the appropriate authorities and continues to offer responses with its usual transparency and candour. So Esther Rockett, you have suggested that the UM FACTS team and Universal Medicine’s responses were
A correction is not lashing out and now as you can see the claims of no wrongdoing were not ‘charades of innocence’ but an unequivocal statement of the facts.
It does beg to be asked, on what basis do you believe that Serge Benhayon or Universal Medicine should answer to you or Martin? You who are a pair of miscreants who have created a web of lies about an organisation that you largely are ignorant of and who have disseminated complete fabrications about Serge Benhayon and anyone associated with him.
Lies do not deserve or need to be answered.
I particularly love Esther Rockett’s assertion ‘the statement that my complaints are ‘false’ is defamatory – and duly noted.’ If that is what you tell yourself at night to get a good nights sleep then I guess that is your prerogative. No Esther, if they are exposed as lies they are not defamatory. In fact, the shoe is on the other foot, the lies you have told, from ridiculous claims that there are those who have been sexually abused by Serge Benhayon (no-one has come forward Esther, and to imply that you were is even taking your own fabricated story a little too far), to noxious claims against reputable doctors, or malicious and baseless claims made to public authorities about Serge Benhayon, Universal Medicine and others, they are defamatory. Indeed, if the countless people you have attacked in your blogs and your submissions were to take legal action against you they would have a hard time picking a small assortment of defamatory imputations to focus upon in legal proceedings, there are so many to choose from.
But let’s get back to the focus of this account. It is now crystal clear, there was no rorting of the charity’s legislation by Serge Benhayon, there were no improper financial dealings and furthermore the charity is meeting its charitable objectives.
What is interesting is that Lance Martin has expressed confidence in the press that the ‘media actually investigate before they report. They interview people, look at documents, and consider a range of opinions’; we imagine that this confidence is found in the fact that some have believed his stories, Jane Hansen appeared to eat out of the palm of his hands, lapping up false and unsubstantiated claims of $70,000 spent on workshops and giving him his 5 minutes of fame as he presented his lies about charity rorts. He needs to look at the nature of the beast he is dealing with, as he makes the ignorant assertion that:
Well Lance, believing your own lies as fact does not make them ‘factual’. It is a shame Jane Hansen did not dig a little deeper. Did she believe your other complaints to government departments? Too bad she didn’t report on them as well, since you would also have to face their falsity in a public forum. And as for this bold assertion:
Well the key is in the words ‘substantially correct’, not actually correct Lance, just substantially – but it is the 30-50% lies that corrupt the trace of facts, don’t you think Lance? Well your claims against the college proved ‘substantially incorrect’.
It has to be asked whether Lance Martin will fully feel the impotence of his empty threats, such as that made on March 30, 2013, posing as ‘Concerned Partner’, that:
It appears Lance Martin’s relief that he seeks for someone to agree with his lies and make his concocted story real has failed again. He appears to have a need to have someone believe his fabrications, so that he does not need to address the fact that his wife left the marriage because of his manipulation and control. However, his attempts have again failed, and will continue to fail. One wonders when he will arrest his behaviour, lest he ends up in a darker nightmare of his own making, and like Kurtz in the Heart of Darkness, is left languishing in a forgotten outpost, lost in his own personal fury.
It needs to be asked if the Sunday Telegraph will now remove the story that gave, at least in Lance Martin’s own mind, the lies some credibility? Will they also publish a retraction, since the story has proved to be false? Or will they ignore the truth because it contradicts their lies?
Will Jane Hansen find the courage to apologise?
Serge Benhayon has called for the Sunday Telegraph to retract their story and issue an apology to the College of Universal Medicine and himself.
Serge Benhayon stated:
‘It is a case of I told you so.
Lance Martin, who Universal Medicine FACTS pushed out of the cowardice cloak of anonymity, made it look like he came out of hiding to tell his big ‘nail in the coffin’ story. Well, like all of Lance Martin’s allegations, concocted stories do not fool decent and intelligent people.
The Government of Australia should not be used and abused by the unresolved marital issues of a Bangalow resident.’
I ask again, how many failed complaints will it take for Lance Martin and Esther Rockett to get a grip on reality? Will Lance Martin one day wake up and look at his actions and reflect, like Kurtz, ‘The horror … the horror …’. Does conscience awake in those who appear to have lost it some time ago?
