Declaring yourself an ‘Activist’ doesn’t necessarily translate as a declaration of constructive action for the greater good, let alone the restoration of Truth.
When activism is driven by a personal agenda or even worse a personal vendetta, no socially palatable or seemingly virtuous cause can disguise the destructive force of an activist blinded by their own self-interest. Serial hatespeech blogger and complaint lodger Esther Rockett is a case in point. She is a woman who claims to be a ‘Feminist’, a ‘Health Care Activist’, ‘Anti-Cult Activist’ and long experienced complementary health practitioner, with a particular interest in women’s health, yet her activism is nothing short of Anti-Woman.
Recently outed, Esther Rockett’s identity was revealed after 2 years of savage and hateful blogging as Darkly Venus, a cyber-bully with a publicly stated agenda – to bring down Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine. Soon after being exposed, Esther Rockett conveniently reinvented herself as ‘Health Care and Anti-Cult Activist’ and has continued to blog both as Darkly Venus, Esther Rockett and various other pseudonyms. But this new title, a combination of socially acceptable and emotional triggers, along with the cleaning up of her more recent blogging language, gives no more legitimacy to her contradictory strategy of claiming the goal of her activism is protecting the public, but goes about it by continuing to employ strategies such as the denigration of women.
Esther Rockett has established yet another blog, this time marketing herself as ‘Health Care and Anti-Cult Activist’ who declares her cause online as:
‘campaigning to improve protections for patients and clients of health services, and to assist patients in protecting themselves from exploitation, privacy invasion and treatment room abuses, including sexual abuse.’ 1
Rockett publicly states her hurts, although not in detail, and refers to experiences with cults and currently rides on the fabricated accusations about Serge Benhayon in a treatment and a healing course; a man of whom on her very first post on the Rick Ross forum she stated ‘I don’t deny he is a brilliant man and some of his remarks were truly inspired’ and of her initial sessions with him she stated ‘I felt I could breathe easier and was more relaxed after them’. The personal rage and vendetta that is the central motivation of her activism becomes blatantly obvious when we look to other high profile activists who have been ‘personally hurt’ but not let themselves be ruled by rage or let it cloud their ability to research effectively and hold a balanced view. The fact is, Esther Rockett is no Erin Brockovich – Consumer Advocate who said ‘If you follow your heart…and if you extend your hand to help another, not for any agenda, but for the sake of humanity, you are going to find the truth’. 2
Granted, the value of activism relies on who is judging it to be worthy or not, and realistically its very definition is without value judgement: ‘Activism is action on behalf of a cause, action that goes beyond what is conventional or routine’.3 Also, activist involvement is typically triggered by an identification with a cause, as there is always some form of personal association with what is being fought for, defended or sought change on. But what is of most grave concern here is not only the impact of Esther Rockett’s personal vendetta-driven activism on her immediate targets, but the impact that such vindictive activism can have on the attitudes of the public, regulatory and government bodies toward legitimate activism. Specifically (in Rockett’s case), through the propagation of misogynist culture with her abhorrent belittling of women as weak, gullible, docile and susceptible to brainwashing.
It’s curious that Serge Benhayon is accused of ‘exploit(ing) primitive gender stereotypes to keep his followers docile and compliant’, yet oddly Esther Rockett complains that she, like the nameless and faceless victims that are yet to materialise, is scared of these very same ‘Brides of Serge’ that she demeans, describes as ‘blither[ing] away online’, accusing these ‘docile’ ‘pets’ of a ‘sleazebag guru’ of being bullies, and making sleazy suggestions that they somehow also enable sexual exploitation, although Esther Rockett (unsurprisingly) never identifies quite how this is meant to be occuring.
It is clear that Esther Rockett conveniently exploits gender stereotypes whenever the need suits her hateful campaign – very disturbing behaviour for a ‘feminist’.
There is no question that Esther Rockett is dedicated to the cause, a cause she shares with Lance Martin, the man who stands in the shadows as Rockett stands as the public face of their mutual campaign to bring Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine down. This fact in itself is interesting given Martin is unlikely to claim himself as anything near a feminist with his view that his wife could not make her own decisions and only left him because she was under the influence of and directed to by Serge. This, in contrast to the facts of Anna Douglass obviously being an intelligent, successful woman who chose to leave her husband because he ‘consistently refused’ to work on their relationship issues and she was not willing to be bullied and controlled by him anymore.
It is worth noting here that Lance Martin’s attitudes with regard to relationships are exposed in his own comments on the various hate blogs he has contributed to. Lance Martin took a distinct objection to what he considered ‘intimacy restrictions IMPOSED without consultation’. Under the pseudonym Concerned Partner, he states:
‘No one should enforce their rules on it or try to interfere with peoples attraction to each other. (so you know, Serge has very strict rules about sex. No fellatio, anal or breast groping permitted)’.
Serge Benhayon has absolutely NO rules about sex and has NEVER said such a thing, however it seems that Martin considers that he should be able to indulge in any sexual activity he wishes, regardless of how his wife actually feels about those activities. It shows a complete lack of respect for his wife for him to make such a comment on a public forum where she and many others know his true identity.
Given that Martin is the driving force in this vendetta against Serge Benhayon, is this in fact a case of Esther Rockett blogging to the misogynist beat of Lance Martin’s drum?
Aside from the relentless blogging over 2 years that has failed to grow their supporter numbers or produce the victims they claim have been abused, Esther Rockett and Lance Martin have harassed government bodies, independent regulatory authorities and professional practitioner associations with a litany of unsubstantiated claims and continue to receive the same response: COMPLAINT DISMISSED.
Esther Rockett and her associates have made over 20 complaints to AHPRA and HCCC – all DISMISSED, some with no investigation. Along with associated complaints to Customs and Border Protection, the ATO and various Charities commissions here and overseas. This along with failed attempts to personally attack individuals associated with Universal Medicine via their places of employment – medical professionals have been particularly targeted in this way. Fortunately the latter disgraceful attempts to cause harm have been treated with the disdain they deserve by employers.
It is not as though Esther Rockett and Lance Martin are receiving ‘Complaint Dismissed’ from the same organisation, or necessarily organisations that are all related or in communication with each other – these are organisations that are independent of each other, in some cases they don’t even share the same international jurisdiction. Yet the story is the same, the result is the same – each organisation, each authority, each association receives the complaint from Lance Martin and Esther Rockett, very few formerly carry out an inquiry and those that do, through their own due diligence requirements, have found no case to answer for and like all before them, dismiss the complaints.
The list of complaints does not include their incessant phone calls to venues around Australia and the UK, where anyone associated with Universal Medicine may be running an event, to warn them off hiring; or warn off organisations and individuals that may be co-presenting, sponsoring or reporting on events by professionals who have an affiliation with Universal Medicine. The list above does not include their countless phone calls and emails to the media both in Australia and the UK making sensational claims to stir up the media into action on a story that just isn’t there, so that their stories invariably become cut and paste copy replicas of stories Esther Rockett has already written the script for on her blogs.
Curiously, fed by Esther Rockett and her blogs, the media reports typically centre on the ‘women’ victims of Universal Medicine. Esther Rockett conjured up the blind docility of the Benhayon women sitting idly by as paedophilia takes place under their noses, made up stories of sexual abuse taking place in front of participants faces in healing courses as women’s genitals are touched, and the crowning glory of Esther Rockett’s lies, the Esoteric Breast Massage modality; a modality she presents as sleazy and as sexual abuse and that it must be simply because it is a treatment that involves the breasts.
Esther Rockett claims to be a Health Care Activist. She claims to be a women’s health advocate. She claims to be a feminist. So why is it that Rockett reserves such significant derision and vitriol for the women she sees as the brainwashed victims of cult and sexual abuse fantasy she’s propagating?
She has never truly met any of these women and as her story has twisted and gained its ugly momentum over the years, at no point in her campaign has she ever made an attempt to contact any of them for comment on her as yet unsubstantiated claims. She cites fear of these feminine bullies, but this was a group of women who made little response to Rockett’s hateful blogging early on and showed no indication of any form of bullying let alone direct reaction to her.
Now, I know that the term feminist is an umbrella for many variations on the theme of re-empowering women, but what kind of feminism is it when a feminist says on the one hand I want to help these women and women generally, yet on the other deride them with such incessant venom it would put a staunch misogynist to shame?
Esther Rockett’s strategy is ironic to put it politely given the fact that a central tenet of Universal Medicine is the celebration of the woman in all her true qualities, equal to the celebration of men. As a result women feature strongly in Universal Medicine as pioneers and leaders, living lives far from the docile guru pets Esther Rockett would have you believe us be:
- Universal Medicine was founded by a man, Serge Benhayon, inspired to serve humanity…
- He developed healing courses to facilitate greater and ever deepening access to healing techniques beyond the one-on-one treatment room setting – with a focus on everyone being a Practitioner of Life and the call to heal ourselves before we could support anyone else in whatever field we work in or relationship to another we find ourselves in.
Yet cyber-bully Esther Rockett maliciously markets Universal Medicine as a secretive cult headed by a guru who recruits and brainwashes women into such a docile state that they supposedly become apologists for her fantastical claims of paedophilia and sexual abuse.
- Unsurprisingly, the ratio of female to male participants of Universal Medicine is greater, given it is an established fact that women tend to seek healing and medical support before men. It is certainly not an indication of women being ‘recruited’. The same has been observed in attendees at complementary healing courses and health care training everywhere, except for areas where roles have been traditionally restricted to men in the past (medicine), although this has changed considerably over the years.
Despite the growing incidence of lifestyle related illness and disease, Esther Rockett has insisted on being the equivalent of a ‘flat earther’ by making remarks to the effect of ‘only ‘some’ disease is lifestyle related’, despite current research suggesting 80% of all heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes and over 40% of cancer would be preventable with appropriate lifestyle choices.4 Esther Rockett chooses to put her head in the sand on that one and deride a man who is truly making a difference:
- Serge Benhayon developed Universal Medicine therapies in response to the rates of illness and disease
- Serge Benhayon ensured his work and that of any practitioner trained in and practicing Universal Medicine Therapies work was truly complementary with conventional medicine and never in opposition to.
- Serge Benhayon observed in clinic the all too common pattern of lack of self nurturing in women and the significant lack of relationship women have with their breasts and the detrimental effects it was having on their body. To support a woman to connect to herself more, through the portal of their body, he developed the Esoteric Breast Massage (EBM), though he never practiced it, with the integrity and knowing that it was not for men to practice but only for women to practice. He therefore handed the modality to leading female practitioners of Universal Medicine therapies at that time, training them in the philosophy with a clothed, simulation of the technique above the body of his wife in absolute honour of a woman’s body.
- The EBM Practitioners have been given the leading reigns to lead the modality not only in its training presentation but its development into the growing modality it is today that can fundamentally transform a woman’s attitude toward her breasts and as we have observed, to herself.
Yet Esther Rockett, surely taking up the role as Anti-woman activist, has instead chosen to demean the Esoteric Breast Massage modality as a dirty sexual practice, hyping up the idea that a healing massage to a woman’s breasts will always have sexual intent and has described it as an abusive practice, but has never experienced this therapy to discover that it is far from abusive. She has irresponsibly perpetuated the notion that breasts are primarily a sexual area of a woman’s body and women have no business seeking treatment for them. Esther Rockett has been particularly deriding of the EBM practitioners, abusively naming them: ‘Sycophants’; ‘Brides of Serge’; ‘Docile’; and extremely and ridiculously ‘Sexual abuse apologists’.
It appears that her complete failure to understand the modality – and her utter ignorance of what self-care might entail – apparently gives her license to throw abuse at other women’s health practitioners. What is more telling is her hysterical attacks upon Paula Fletcher who dared to suggest that women should be able to CHOOSE if and when a man should be permitted to touch her breasts.
Serge Benhayon shows his positive attitude to women’s development in his relationship with his daughters:
- He has encouraged his daughters equally as his sons in their chosen fields of interest and as a result all four inspire countless people immensely.
- Specific to women, Serge has been a constant source of support and inspiration to his daughter Simone, who excels in her swim coaching career with her greatly successful business Creative Aquatic, having already been awarded UK Swim Coach of the Year, UK Fundamentals Coach of the Year, UK Swim School of the Year, Somerset Coach of the Year (across all sports) in only a few short years. She is renowned for her commitment and loving ways with families and children and across all her relationships and was earlier this year nominated for Personality of the Year for 2013.
Yet Esther Rockett bizarrely chose to focus on the fact that Simone was a baby when he married Deborah, his first wife, who had had Simone from a previous relationship. Somehow, Esther Rockett along with Lance Martin took great pleasure in blogging about the fact that Simone is not Serge’s daughter by birth, in a vain attempt to shame the Benhayon family as if this was some sordid secret. This however, is not the case as there is no issue, since Simone is as much Serge Benhayon’s daughter as his biological daughter, Natalie; such is the closeness of Simone Benhayon with her father (Serge Benhayon) and her siblings.
Esther Rockett’s malicious blogging attempts to make an issue where there isn’t one. One can only be inspired by the pure loving relationship between Simone and her father Serge Benhayon. But Esther does not hold back on her attempts to cause harm wherever she can, even though in this case, her malevolent intent yielded nil result. Esther Rockett also made lurid suggestions that Simone Benhayon chooses to live in the United Kingdom in order to escape what she insinuates was sexual abuse – this said with zero evidence and zero understanding of the immensely close relationship Simone Benhayon has with her father Serge Benhayon, which is evident to those who know them both. But of course, Esther Rockett makes sweeping claims about everything when in reality she knows nothing.
Serge Benhayon has been an inspirational support to his other daughter Natalie Benhayon who has taken a leading role in women’s health advocacy, in roles as the Director of the company she established, Esoteric Women’s Health, the creator of the health App Our Cycles for women (and men) and a leading presenter to the public internationally on women’s health and wellbeing.
Yet Esther Rockett has chosen to ignore the facts and has publicly abused and demeaned this young woman for years, as some docile child whose every move is controlled by a father, a father whom Esther Rockett has relentlessly accused of sexual impropriety with her friends who visit their family home. It is all lies, all some strange and warped fiction Esther Rockett has concocted to attack Serge Benhayon. She constantly claims she has proof, yet she never produces it. What we know, and all those who know Serge Benhayon and his family, is that there is no such proof, as nothing Esther Rockett has claimed is true.
Esther Rockett appears incapable of understanding the close and supportive bond that Serge Benhayon shares with his daughters. It reveals the nature of his relationships with all the women in his life – deeply respectful, thoughtful and loving.
As Esther Rockett continues her damaging campaign, now spanning more than two years, filled with relentless lies, poison and vitriol one has to ask what is she an Activist of, or against? As far as we can see Esther Rockett, self proclaimed ‘Health Care Activist’ and self- appointed ‘Anti-Cult Activist’ is only an Activist of her own fabricated lies that she has made up about Universal Medicine – there is nothing to take offence at or be an Activist against, except for the lies that she has created. In effect she has made up her own cause.
In her self-appointed role as an Activist, all that appears to have occurred is that the lies she has spun about women and Universal Medicine have turned Esther Rockett into an Anti-woman activist – she simply cannot disguise that she has become a destructive force pitted against ALL women, blinded by her own vendetta against Universal Medicine.
